Sapphō Restaurant: the timeless allure of Mykonos’ golden years

By Christina P. Mallaki

One of Mykonos’ most iconic waterfront locations is entering a new chapter this summer with the opening of Sapphō, a restaurant and late-night destination housed in the former Remezzo venue in the island’s Old Port.

Named in honor of the Greek poet Sapphō (sáf-oh), this restaurant is inspired by long summer days, shared plates, and seaside nights. Blending elegance with warmth, it embodies the timeless allure of Mykonos’ golden years.

Created by a team deeply connected to Mykonos, Sapphō pays tribute to the island’s celebrated hospitality scene while introducing a contemporary concept that blends exceptional dining, refined cocktails, and immersive nightlife. Spanning multiple terraces, stylish bars, and intimate indoor spaces overlooking the Aegean Sea, the venue is designed to evolve throughout the evening, from sunset dinners to late-night celebrations.

The menu is designed to celebrate the flavours of the Mediterranean with a contemporary approach, featuring standout dishes including yellowtail carpacio, sea bass and sea urchin, seabream ceviche, my favorite miso ceasar’s salad, rigatoni with caviar that will make you go back and order it again and many more. Desserts include an amazing tropical yuzu pavlova, an exotic ravani, coconut with pinneaple delicacies and a chocolate cremeux with sesame ice cream!

Complementing the menu is a carefully curated wine selection showcasing acclaimed Greek wineries alongside respected international labels. A sophisticated cocktail program transitions effortlessly from pre-dinner aperitifs into late-night serves, matching the changing rhythm of the venue.

To illustrate, the cocktail program reflects the same Mediterranean spirit, combining premium spirits with fresh, locally inspired ingredients. Signature creations include the Aegean Sunset, blending vodka, watermelon, basil and lime; the Golden Hour, a refreshing mix of gin, cucumber, elderflower and mint; the Sapphō Spritz, combining sparkling wine, Greek citrus aperitif and pink grapefruit; the Midnight Fig, made with aged rum, fig, honey and bitters; and the Cyclades Negroni, a distinctive twist on the classic featuring Greek vermouth, botanical gin and mastiha liqueur.

As the evening progresses, Sapphō unveils one of its most intriguing elements: a discreet nightclub hidden within the property. Throughout the summer, internationally renowned DJs will perform in an intimate setting, although line-ups remain intentionally unannounced. The concept embraces spontaneity and word-of-mouth, encouraging guests to discover unforgettable nights without expectation or schedule.

From relaxed sunset dining to sunrise celebrations, Sapphō aims to capture the effortless glamour and energy that made Mykonos famous, creating experiences that linger long after the summer season has ended …
